Matthew Hestand is an accomplished bioinformatician with extensive experience in the field of genomics and bioinformatics. Currently serving as the Manager of Field Applications Bioinformatics Support at PacBio since December 2021, Matthew previously held prominent roles such as Director of Bioinformatics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati. Key achievements include leading teams for next-generation sequencing (NGS) diagnostics, developing custom Laboratory Information Management Systems, and conducting significant research on genetic contributors to conditions such as schizophrenia. Matthew’s academic credentials include a PhD in Medicine from Leiden University, a Master of Chemistry in Genomics and Bioinformatics from Utrecht University, and dual bachelor's degrees in Biology and Philosophy from the University of Kentucky.
