Crystal Pryor has a diverse work experience in various research and academic roles. Crystal is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Policy Research at the University at Albany, SUNY. Prior to this, they worked at Pacific Forum where they held multiple positions, including Director of Research, Vice President, and Director of Non-proliferation, Technology, and Fellowships. Crystal also served as an Adjunct Fellow at the East West Center and as the Chief Translation Officer at Native Honyaku. Crystal has held research and teaching positions at Harvard University, the University of Washington, and the East-West Center in Washington. Additionally, Crystal has been a Resident SPF Fellow at Pacific Forum CSIS and a Research Affiliate at Project Alpha, Centre for Science and Security Studies, King's College, London. Crystal has also worked as a Japan Studies Fellow and a Computer Lab Consultant at the University of Washington.

Crystal Pryor has a diverse educational background with degrees earned from various institutions. Crystal began their education at San Dieguito High School Academy, where they completed their high school education from 1997 to 2000. Crystal then pursued their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in International Relations at Brown University, graduating in 2004.

In 2002 and 2003, Crystal studied Japanese Language at Keio University. Following this, they went on to obtain a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Political Science from The University of Tokyo from 2005 to 2008. Additionally, Crystal completed the Japanese Language Program Certificate at the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies (IUC) in 2005.

Returning to the United States, Crystal pursued further education at the University of Washington, where they obtained their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Political Science from 2010 to 2012. Crystal subsequently pursued a Ph.D. in Political Science at the same institution, successfully completing it in 2016.

Lastly, Crystal returned to The University of Tokyo to pursue a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Political Science and Government, though the specific time frame for this degree is not provided.
