Dr. Daniel Jamu is a Malawian aquaculture and ecosystem ecologist who previously worked as Deputy Chief of Party for the REFRESH project as an expert with the project's consortium partner University of Rhode Island Coastal Resources Centre. Daniel holds a Ph.D. in ecology, with a minor in biological systems engineering. He has over 25 years of experience working in aquaculture and inland fisheries development in Southern and Eastern Africa. He has led numerous national and regional aquaculture development, fisheries and natural resources management projects, and has also served as a team leader and project leader on numerous donor-funded projects in the aquaculture and fisheries management sector in Malawi and eight other African countries. He is an accomplished researcher and has published over 40 peer-reviewed and technical papers and four book chapters in the natural resource conservation field. He also serves in a voluntary and advisory capacity as a board member for the World Bank-funded Academic Center of Excellence in Fisheries and Aquaculture at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and as a trustee of the Malawi Innovative Fish Farmers Network Trust.
