Takashi Soma has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Takashi began their career as a Science and Mathematics Teacher at Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) from July 1990 to September 1993. Takashi then worked as an Earth Science Lecturer at 惟应筒高校 from April 1994 to March 1995. Following this, they served as a Science Teacher at Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) from October 1995 to March 1996. Takashi then transitioned to become a Science Teacher at 北海高校 from April 1996 to March 2000.
In 2000, they joined Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a Science Education Adviser for Ghana Education Service (GES), where they worked until April 2003. After this, they worked at PADECO from January 2005 onwards, starting as a Consultant in the Education Development Division and progressively taking on more responsibilities. Takashi'sroles at PADECO include General Manager of the Education Consulting Division from April 2015 to October 2020, Director from April 2017 to October 2020, and currently serving as the President & CEO since October 2020.
Takashi Soma has a solid education background. Takashi earned a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in Science Teacher Education (Earth Science Department) from Yokohama National University, where they studied from 1986 to 1990. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Education from the University of Sussex, attending from 2003 to 2005.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Takashi Soma has also obtained a certification in International Cooperation Project Evaluation from PADECO, obtained in January 2023.
