Spilios has over 30 years of experience in the telecom field with expertise in Project Management, Business Continuity Management, Network Resilience and Reliability.
He has a proven record of successful project management and consulting engagements, including: Three Olympiads and 1st European Games in Baku with 100% network availability and recognition for his contributions by the IEEE Communication Quality & Reliability (CQR) Committee; Over 50 Tier 1&2 telecom companies, telecom vendors, and Telecom Regulatory Authorities (TRAs) worldwide, advising CEOs/CTOs on the major risks of their wireline/wireless networks; Leading the development of reliability Generic Requirements (GRs), ATIS reliability standards, Technical Reports, and resilience Best Practices that became the “de facto” norm for the telecom industry.
Spilios served as the Chair for the IEEE Study Group on “Security, Reliability, and Performance for the Software Defined and Virtualized Ecosystems (e.g., SDN/NFV)” (2014-15). He has served as Chair or Vice-Chair or Chief Co-Editor, and Leading Contributor of the Standards T1A1.2 Working Group for 21 years (Note: T1A1.2 was renamed as PRQC Reliability Task Force in 2005). He also has served as lead contributor to various Focus Groups of the FCC Network Reliability Councils for 18 years and other industry forums. Among other recognitions, he was awarded a commendation from the President’s (Clinton’s) Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection, the Standards Committee T1 Outstanding Achievement Award, as well as the FCC/NRC Recognition Award for dedicated efforts and valuable assistance in furthering the Telecommunications Network Reliability of the United States.
