Tien Nguyen

Tien Nguyen is an experienced technology leader with a robust background in software engineering and engineering management. Currently serving as Director of Engineering at Palo Alto Networks since April 2020, Tien previously held the same position at Essential, where Tien also contributed as Technical Lead Manager. Prior roles include Software Engineer at Uber, focusing on Driver Positioning and incentives, Staff Software Engineer at Square, and Software Engineer at Google, working on mobile payments for emerging markets. Tien’s early career includes engineering management and leadership positions at Skunkworks, Galaxy, and Microsoft, alongside software engineering roles at APR LLC and an internship at Athoc Inc. Tien holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Chicago and graduated from a high school for the gifted.
