William Schiavo

Charge Nurse, Tntl, Team Lead, Critical Care RN at Palomar Health

William Schiavo has extensive work experience in various healthcare settings. William started their career as a Clinical Instructor at WSWHE BOCES, where they provided clinical and classroom education for nursing students and created a class in Disaster Nursing. William then worked at White Plains Hospital as a Clinical Lead in the Emergency Department, acting as a mentor and preceptor.

In 2011, William worked as a Travel Nurse in the Emergency Department at Palomar Health and Sharp HealthCare. William received recognition for their speed and efficiency in providing the "Sharp Experience" to patients. William also served as a Travel Nurse at Palomar Health, attending staff meetings and being recognized as a top travel nurse.

From 2011 to 2015, William was employed at the University of California, San Diego, where they worked as a per diem nurse in the emergency department and a mobile intensive care nurse. William was involved in Ebola readiness and disaster preparedness teams, served on the research committee, and contributed to the emergency department newsletter.

At Scripps Health, William served as a Surgical ICU Nurse and an Emergency Room RN. William cared for ventilated patients with life-threatening emergencies and was responsible for conducting staff competencies.

William also worked as a Travel Nurse at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, caring for trauma patients and ICU holds, including celebrities and international elites.

At Jacobi Medical Center, William worked as a per diem nurse in the Emergency Department, providing care to an underserved, inner-city population with a high patient-to-nurse ratio.

Currently, William works at Palomar Health as a Charge Nurse, Trauma Lead, and Critical Care Nurse. William serves on various committees and is involved in staff education and maintaining competencies.

Since 2019, William has also been working as a Critical Care Transport Nurse at Advantage Ambulance, transporting vulnerable patients to higher levels of care. William has experience with advanced medical devices such as ECMO, balloon pumps, LVADs, vents, and Impella devices.

William Schiavo has a strong educational background in nursing. William completed a Master of Science (MS) in Nursing Education from Western Governors University in 2021. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from The College of New Rochelle in 2004, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Biology from the University at Albany, SUNY in 2001. In addition to their degrees, William has obtained various certifications in emergency nursing and fitness training, including Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN®) from the BOARD OF CERTIFICATION FOR EMERGENCY NURSING (BCEN®) in 2021.
