Matthew Rennie

Matthew Rennie's work experience includes co-founding and serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Paperwork since October 2019. Matthew is focused on improving financial literacy and helping people manage their finances more effectively.

Prior to that, Matthew co-founded and served as the VP of Engineering at Jemstep by Invesco from October 2012 to October 2019. Matthew played a key role in building the fintech business and scaling the engineering team to over 100 engineers. Matthew also established technical leadership in various areas and led initiatives for achieving industry certifications.

Before Jemstep, Matthew worked as the Director of Engineering at IT Platforms from October 2007 to October 2012. Matthew led a team responsible for developing proprietary software systems and was involved in application architecture and infrastructure evolution.

Matthew's earlier experiences include working as a Software Engineer at Pan African Shopfitters from April 2004 to September 2007, a Project Manager at Striata from July 2003 to March 2004, and as a self-employed Software Engineer on various contract-based projects from April 2002 to March 2003. Matthew also had brief software engineering stints at Digital Age Technologies in 2002 and as a Software Development Tutor at Bond University from July 2001 to November 2001.

Matthew Rennie obtained their Bachelor of Information Technology degree from Bond University from the year 2000 to 2001. Matthew later pursued a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley from 2013 to 2015. In addition to their formal education, Matthew obtained a certification in OpenStack Training, provided by the Industry-Academia Partnership at Rackspace, through Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley in January 2015.
