Dejan Petelin

Dejan Petelin is a seasoned data science professional with extensive experience in machine learning and data analytics. Currently, Dejan is a Co-Founder at Pareto AI since September 2020, following a prominent tenure at Gousto from September 2014 to June 2020, where positions included Director of Data and Head of Data, contributing significantly to the optimization of business operations through customer insights and probabilistic modeling. Prior to Gousto, Dejan served as a Postdoctoral Associate and PhD student at the Jozef Stefan Institute, focusing on online learning from data streams and applying Gaussian processes to various real-world challenges. Dejan's earlier experience includes roles as a Data Science Fellow at S2DS, a visiting researcher at Lancaster University, and a Software Engineer at Ixtlan Team d.o.o., further solidifying a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of data science. Dejan holds a PhD in Machine Learning from Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School and a Master's degree in Computer and Information Science from the University of Ljubljana.
