Phoebe Yao

Phoebe Yao is the Founder & CEO of Pareto, a company that provides data collection, web research, and lead generation services. Phoebe started the company in April 2020 and continues to lead it. Phoebe is also a Member F22 at StartX since September 2022. Prior to Pareto, Phoebe was a Thiel Fellow at The Thiel Foundation from September 2020 to September 2022. Phoebe also worked as a Research Assistant at Stanford University from December 2018 to June 2020. Phoebe's work experience also includes a role as a Research Intern at Microsoft from June 2019 to September 2019 and as a Product Engineer Intern at Lark Health from April 2019 to June 2019. Phoebe has also interned as a Software Engineering Intern at Jetpack from November 2017 to June 2018 and at dahmakan from July 2017 to October 2017. Additionally, Phoebe has worked as a Fisheries Biology Intern at Missouri Department of Conservation from May 2016 to August 2016 and as a Research Assistant at New Mexico Tech in June 2015. At New Mexico Tech, they calculated the orbital elements of a near-earth asteroid and published research via the International Astronomical Union.

Phoebe Yao has pursued an education at Stanford University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in an Individually Designed Major known as Human Centered Design & Engineering. Additionally, they have attended the University of Oxford, specializing in the field of Computer Science and focusing on Foundations of Human-Computer Interaction.
