Melanie Crowson

Melanie Crowson has worked as an Astronomer/Education Director at Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute since February 2020. Prior to that, they served as an Ambassador at the American Association of Variable Star Observers starting in July 2019. From September 2019 to May 2020, Melanie worked as a Math and Science Tutor at TutorMe, tutors.com. Melanie also held various roles at the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) from June 2016 to May 2020, including Vice President, President, and SEDS USA Vice Chair of the Board. Before that, they worked as a Mathematics Tutor independently from September 2012 to September 2015. Melanie also has experience as a Planetarium Presenter at the Museum of Science and Industry from July 2008 to April 2014. Additionally, they independently designed and built a fully functional 6-inch Dobsonian telescope and solar filters from August 2005 to June 2007.

Between 2012 and 2017, Melanie studied at the American Public University System, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree. Their field of study included Space Studies, Astronomy, Aeronautics, and Planetary Science.

In 2011 and 2012, Melanie attended Pasco-Hernando State College, although there is no information available regarding the degree they pursued during that time. Their field of study at that college was Computer Programming.
