Rafael Costa

Rafael Costa, PhD, CPCU, ARe, is a seasoned professional in the reinsurance industry, currently serving as a Senior Treaty Underwriter for Latin America P&C at PartnerRe since October 2021. In this role, Rafael manages reinsurance portfolios across South America and the Spanish Caribbean, focusing on sustainable growth and coordination with non-P&C underwriters. Prior to this, Rafael held various positions at Aspen Insurance Group, including Head of Latin America where responsibilities encompassed managing reinsurance portfolios and collaborating internationally. Other noteworthy experiences include directing international business development at AgriLogic Consulting, developing actuarial models for crop insurance at AgriLogic Crop Insurance Services, and engaging in research at the Center for North American Studies and Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Rafael holds a PhD in Applied Economics and an MS in International Agricultural Trade from Texas A&M University, along with a BS in Economics from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco.
