Maggie Moore manages the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals, the premier award for honoring exceptional federal employees. A native of Washington, DC, she grew up seeing firsthand the incredible impact of public servants—including her parents—and is thrilled to be working to spotlight their accomplishments. Maggie has spent her career creating compelling stories that influence policy, drive awareness, and support underserved communities in the United States and abroad, most recently at the U.S. Agency for International Development and a nonprofit she co-founded, the BA Women’s Alliance. Maggie is inspired to follow in the footsteps of her favorite public servants fictional President Jed Bartlett and real-life hero Mary McLeod Bethune, an educator, civil and human rights leader, champion for women and young people, and advisor to five U.S. presidents.
