Lea Mitchell

Lea Mitchell has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Lea currently holds the position of Director, Office for Leading and Learning at Pasco County Schools since January 2018. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Professional Development and School Supports at Pasco County Schools from June 2016 to December 2017.

Lea Mitchell has also worked at Adams 12 Five Star Schools as a School Principal from July 2012 to June 2016. Lea was previously employed at Adams 14 School District, where they held the roles of Principal from July 2011 to June 2012 and Assistant Principal from July 2009 to June 2011.

Before their roles in school administration, Lea Mitchell worked as a Teacher and Instructional Coach at Fayette County Public Schools (KY) from July 2004 to June 2009, where they taught 5th grade and supported English Language learners and their families. Lea also collaborated to develop a program to support new students and redesigned ELL services.

Lea Mitchell also had a role as a Professional Development Trainer at the Kentucky Department of Education from August 2005 to March 2008, where they provided professional development to school teams, focusing on English Language Learners and instructional strategies.

In addition, Lea Mitchell worked as a Teacher at Balsz School District from January 2003 to July 2004, where they were part of a design team for a new school and taught 4th grade at Brunson-Lee Elementary during the school's inaugural year.

Lea Mitchell holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from the University of Kentucky, which they obtained from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Education at Arizona State University from 1998 to 2002. Their Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University focused on Elementary Education and Teaching.
