Aloke Pillai

Aloke Pillai has a diverse work experience in the field of design. Aloke has been the Design Co-founder at Pastel since August 2017. Prior to this, they founded Chachu Studio in May 2016. Aloke also co-founded HustleCase as a Design Co-founder in August 2017, but left in January 2020.

Before co-founding these companies, Aloke was a founding member of Kit.com, where they focused on design from November 2015 to May 2016. Aloke also worked as a Product Designer at Expa from March 2015 to November 2015, and as a UI/UX Designer at Compass from June 2014 to March 2015.

Aloke's early career included founding their own design company, Pillai Design, in December 2006. Over the course of eight years, they developed a trusted client base and managed a team of freelancers.

Prior to their entrepreneurial ventures, Aloke gained valuable experience through internships and research assistant positions. Aloke worked as a Design Research Assistant at York University in 2013, where they redesigned an interface for the Theatre Department. Aloke also interned as a UI/UX Design Intern at Jawbone in 2013, where they worked on UX flows and visuals for the Jawbone app. Furthermore, Aloke began their career as the First Design Intern at Mixpanel, Inc. in 2012, where they focused on improving the user experience and practiced data-driven design processes.

Throughout their work experiences, Aloke has demonstrated their expertise and skill in various design roles and has a proven track record of successfully contributing to the growth and success of multiple startups and companies.

Aloke Pillai obtained a Bachelor of Design (BDes) degree from York University, specializing in the field of Design. This education was completed from 2010 to 2014.
