Steve Johnson has a diverse and extensive work experience. Steve began their career at Delphi as an Industrial Engineer, where they utilized lean principles and conducted value stream analyses for the design of large production facility layouts. Steve then transitioned to become a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt at Delphi, leading and mentoring over 300 continuous improvement projects and achieving annual savings of approximately $3M.
In 2006, Steve joined Quest Diagnostics as the Director of Continuous Improvement, responsible for implementing Lean Six Sigma across a $500M business. Steve trained and certified a large number of black belts and green belts and successfully completed over 100 projects, resulting in yearly cost savings of around $5M. Additionally, Steve developed a methodology to integrate data from various sources to create a daily leadership huddle with automated insights.
At Quest Diagnostics, Steve later served as the Sr. Director of Sales & Operations Planning, overseeing the Operations Metrics program and implementing visualizations that reached 250k views per month. Steve then took on the role of Executive Director of Cost Excellence & Operations Strategy, leading a corporate-wide cost-saving initiative that delivered $250M of annual savings from hundreds of in-house developed initiatives. Steve also managed the operational response for Covid testing, integrating data and analytics for over 68M tests across 30 test sites.
Currently, Steve is the VP of Operational Excellence & Business Analytics at PathGroup, starting in September 2023.
Steve Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute between 1995 and 1999. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, where they studied from 2005 to 2007.
