Archie Cobbs has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Starting in 1995, they volunteered as a committer for The FreeBSD Project, contributing to kernel and user-land software. In 2004, they co-founded Awarix and served as its CTO, leading product development for real-time patient visibility solutions. From 2007 to 2009, Cobbs worked as the Chief Technologist for McKesson Horizon Enterprise Visibility. Archie then served as the Chief Technology Officer for Definicare from 2009 to 2013, leading technical development and strategy. As the Principal & COO of Vulcan Biosciences since 2012, they aided in developing a mass spectrometry proteomics discovery platform and discovering novel drug candidates. Cobbs also worked with Emergency CallWorks as an investor and software technical lead, contributing to the company's technical plan and developing a persistence framework and distributed database technology. Archie served as a software consultant for SuccessEHS, developing mobile applications and working on various projects. Cobbs founded PatientEXP in 2011, serving as the CEO and leading the design and development of a personalized patient and family guidance system for healthcare. Lastly, in 2015, they became an investor and software technical lead for VeriPhase Automated Detection Technology for Phased Array, where they developed software for automated analysis of ultrasonic weld inspection data and received several patents. Cobbs also holds the role of an investor and software technical lead at Guideway Care.
Archie Cobbs possesses an extensive educational background in the field of mathematics and computer science. Between 1985 and 1989, they attended Princeton University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) in Mathematics. Following this, from 1989 to 1991, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. Subsequently, Archie continued to broaden their knowledge in the field by earning a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, a journey that spanned from 1991 to 1995.
