Allison Sacerdote-Velat currently serves as the Curator of Biology & Herpetology and Vice President of Conservation Research at the Chicago Academy of Sciences/Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum since October 2023, having held the position of Curator of Herpetology at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum since September 2016. Previous roles include Reintroduction Biologist at Lincoln Park Zoo, where project leadership included efforts for smooth green snake recovery and other species conservation. Additionally, experience encompasses academic roles as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Northern Illinois University, along with various research technician positions focused on herpetology and wildlife monitoring across multiple organizations. Allison holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Forest Biology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
