As associate vice president of government health relations, Sheilah Borne represents Penn State Health on legislative and regulatory matters before elected and appointed governmental bodies at the local, state and federal levels.
Before coming to Hershey in 2004, Borne was assistant director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness in the Pennsylvania Department of Health. She served as a senior appointee in both the Ridge and Schweiker gubernatorial administrations as director of legislative and public affairs for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry and deputy director for Homeland Security for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, respectively. Borne also served in the private sector as the chief operating officer of the 521 Management Group.
Borne’s board service has included the Executive Committee of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children, the Executive Board of the Modern Transit Partnership and Shalom House, a homeless shelter for women and children. She is also an elected member of the Paxtang Borough Council.
Borne earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Temple University and began her professional career as a congressional aide in Washington, D.C., serving for seven years as a senior staff member to former U.S. Congressman George W. Gekas.
