Team Lead, Data Services at Pexapark

Mark Commerford is the Team Lead for Data Services at Pexapark. Prior to their current position, Mark was the Balancing and Optimization Manager at Axpo Group from July 2014 to December 2019. In this role, they managed two teams responsible for balancing activities across 15 countries in Europe. Additionally, Mark facilitated and led innovation workshops focused on new business products related to customer integration, reporting, and balancing optimization for renewable energies. Mark also defined and created multiple machine learning and artificial intelligence strategies to increase profits by optimizing different pricing tools. Furthermore, Mark integrated balancing cost calculations into analysis reports to identify costly low performers in the renewable, industrial, and gas portfolios.

Prior to their role at Axpo Group, Mark was a freelance consultant at Gaia Consulting from February 2013 to February 2014. During their time there, they were responsible for data analysis and document management on a project covering the effectiveness of Swiss funded climate change projects over the last 10 years. This included pivot table integration and management, drafting and editing of technical reports, and technical analysis of the Swiss contribution to the Fast Start Financing initiative.

Mark’s career began as a Hilfsassistent at ETH Zurich from September 2010 to March 2013.

Mark Commerford attended Starr's Mill High School and graduated with a high school diploma. Mark then went on to the Georgia Institute of Technology where they studied mechanical engineering and earned a Bachelor's of Science degree. Next, they participated in an exchange program at the Technical University of Munich before attending ETH Zürich to earn their Master's of Science in energy, science, and technology. Finally, Mark Commerford completed a certification from Pexapark in power purchase agreement (PPA) academy certificate of completion.
