Richard Loach is a Principal Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry at Pfizer since January 2016, specializing in innovative synthetic chemistry for chronic disease treatment. Prior to Pfizer, Richard served as a FRQNT Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on the total synthesis of complex bioactive alkaloid natural products. Richard's academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Organic Synthesis from Université Laval, where research on oxacyclic natural products led to significant syntheses with anticancer properties. Earlier teaching experience includes a role as a Science/Chemistry Teacher at St. Joseph's College in London. Richard holds a PGCE in Sciences from King's College London and a BSc in Chemistry from Imperial College London.
