Msc Chris Heybourne (Hons)

Chris Heybourne has extensive experience in health and safety management, with expertise in creating a positive safety culture and providing support across various industries. Currently, Chris works as the Head of Health & Safety at PGL Travel, where they strategically develop and maintains safety strategies and action plans. Prior to this, Chris worked at Semperian Infrastructure Group as the Deputy Head of Safety, Health & Environment, responsible for ensuring compliance and managing a team of SHE Managers. Chris also held positions at MITIE, G4S Secure Solutions (UK), Personnel Business Solutions, David Lloyd Leisure, Kingswood Learning and Leisure Group Ltd, Bicton College, and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, gaining experience in health and safety management, project management, and training instruction. Chris holds an MSc, BA (Hons), PIEMA, and CMIOSH qualifications.

Chris Heybourne holds an MSc in Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Management from the University of Portsmouth, which they completed from 2018 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a BA (Hons) in Business Administration and Management from Sheffield Hallam University, graduating between 1993 and 1996.

In terms of additional certifications, Chris has obtained various qualifications throughout their career. Some of these include the ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification from IRCA Global in February 2019, the ISO 14001:2015 Lead Environmental Auditor certification from IEMA in June 2018, and the Level 5 Management and Leadership certification from the Chartered Management Institute in January 2018.

Other certifications include Fire Safety and Fire Risk Assessment from The Fire Service College in September 2017, IFSM Fire Safety Management from The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) in October 2016, and Advanced Level Accident Investigation & Incident Response from Osborn Abas Hunt in June 2016.

Chris is also an Associate Member of Environmental Management and Assessment from IEMA since October 2014 and has obtained a BS OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor certification from IRCA in September 2014. Chris holds various other certifications, including Safety Leadership from Human Applications in May 2014 and a National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety Management from NEBOSH.

Chris also holds the designation of CMIOSH from IOSH, and they have obtained certifications such as Fire Risk Assessor from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, Health & Safety Certificate from RIPH, and IOSH Managing Safely and IOSH Working Safely from IOSH. Furthermore, Chris has completed the Integrated Management Systems Tri Standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & BS OHSAS 8001) Internal Auditor certification from Bywater Training Ltd, Intermediate Food Hygiene from The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, NVQ Level 4 in Occupational Health & Safety Management from City & Guilds, and P402 Asbestos Surveys & Bulk Sampling of Asbestos from the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).
