Omid Alavi has a diverse work experience. Omid started their career in 2012 as an Internship Trainee at Tous Stadt Co. Consulting Engineers. Later, in 2016, they worked as a Research Assistant at K. N. Toosi University of Technology. In 2018, they became an Independent Researcher at the same university and collaborated with professors in the field of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering. Starting in 2019, Omid worked at Hasselt University as a Teaching Assistant and PHD Researcher. Omid'sresearch focused on exploring reliability in renewable energy integration and optimizing battery management using AI and optimization algorithms. Omid joined Fraunhofer IISB as a Visiting Researcher in 2021. Currently, Omid works as a Reliability Engineer (Operations and Manufacturing) at Pharrowtech, starting in 2023.
Omid Alavi has a diverse educational background in the field of engineering. Omid obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Energy Systems Engineering from UHasselt, which they pursued from 2019 to 2023. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Power Electronics and Electrical Machines from K. N. Toosi University of Technology between 2014 and 2016. Omid'sundergraduate studies were focused on Electrical Engineering, specifically in the field of Power Engineering, and they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, where they studied from 2009 to 2014.
In addition to their formal education, Omid Alavi has also acquired various certifications and attended webinars to enhance their knowledge and skills. This includes certifications in "Automated PCB Component Placement and Copper Trace Layout for Power Electronics" from IEEE Power Electronics Society obtained in June 2022, "Dutch Language A1 + A2" from CVO-CURSA obtained in July 2021, and "Maatschappelijke oriëntatie - Integratie en Inburgering" from Agentschap Integratie en Inburgering obtained in July 2021. Omid has also participated in numerous webinars conducted by IEEE Power Electronics Society and Digi-Key Electronics on topics such as testing inverters, reliability assessment software, high-frequency WBG motor drives, heat sink design, grid-connected converters, optocouplers, power semiconductors, and power electronic system reliability. Additionally, they obtained a certification in "Focus on Peer Review" from Nature Masterclasses in January 2020 and achieved an IELTS Academic score of 7.0 with sub-scores in listening, reading, speaking, and writing in November 2018.
