Abigail Alford

Abigail Alford has a diverse work experience. In 2021, they began working as a Senior Scientist at Phico Therapeutics Ltd. From 2017 to 2021, they were a PhD Student at John Innes, focusing on the use of Genome Mining, Genetic Engineering and Heterologous Hosts for the discovery, production and diversification of novel antibiotics. In 2016, they completed a Final Year Research Project at the University of York, Prof. Simon-McQueen-Mason group, where they worked on Recombinant Expression of Silicase Enzymes for the Reduction of Silica in Rice Straw. In 2015, they completed a Year in Industry Student at The Pirbright Institute, working on Foot-and-Mouth Disease mutations. In 2014, they worked as part of a mixed short term team to collect, label and sort wheat trials under RAGTseeds. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Cafe/Front Desk Volunteer and Door to Door Membership Recruitment Officer at Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT).

Abigail Alford's education history consists of three institutions. From 2006 to 2011, they attended John Collett School, where they completed their high school degree. From 2011 to 2013, they attended Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School. Finally, from 2013 to 2017, they attended the University of York, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences (with a Year in Industry).
