Sofia Michelakis

Sofia Michelakis serves as the Managing Director at Phīla Engaged Giving since February 2023, leading a philanthropic advising firm focused on aligning clients' financial contributions with their values, particularly in the realms of racial and social justice. Previously, Sofia held the position of Deputy Director at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from February 2013 to August 2022, where involvement in the Giving Pledge fostered a community of philanthropists dedicated to impactful giving. Additional experience includes serving as the Director of Partner Development at Social Venture Partners Seattle, an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law, and various roles in the legal field, including attorney positions at Venture Law Group and Heller Ehrman. Sofia holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Stanford University and a JD, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School.
