Randy Dunn

Randy Dunn has a diverse work experience spanning several decades in various roles and industries. Randy began their career at McDonnell Douglas in 1988 as an engineer, specializing in avionics test systems. During this time, they were responsible for testing and validating flight systems for the C-17 Globemaster III. Randy also served as the hardware systems lead engineer at the Avionics Integration Software Facility (AISF).

In 1996, Randy joined Maxsys Advanced Systems Group as the Chief Engineer. In this role, they led the design engineering efforts for aerospace programs, including projects such as the International Space Station (ISS) node test and control systems. Randy also worked on the ISS Power Quality Test System (PQSTS) to perform power quality analysis of the ISS solar array power distribution system.

Later in 1998, Randy transitioned to Phillips Aerospace as the VP of Engineering. Randy was responsible for architecting systems, organizing teams, and executing engineering projects. Their expertise encompassed multiple disciplines, including system design, hardware design, software design and development. Their projects involved complex simulation and control systems, real-time test systems, and embedded systems design.

In 2011, Randy founded Evaira Corp., an alternative energy products company that was later acquired by Infineon Technologies. As the Technology Director for Infineon, they drove the technology development for energy storage and management solutions for military, industrial, and aerospace applications.

Randy's most recent position is at Electric Power Systems, where they initially served as the VP of Engineering since 2016. In this role, they oversaw battery systems development programs and directed research into secondary lithium-ion chemistries, safety testing, packaging design solutions, and battery management concepts. Randy also worked on advancing balancing strategies, state of charge and state of health algorithms, and safety disconnect solutions. In 2019, Randy transitioned to the role of CIO before eventually becoming the CSO in November 2020.
