Desi Gutierrez

Desi Gutierrez has worked in the photonics and telecommunications industries since 2011. In 2011, they were a Telecommunications Intern at Green Development Patent, where they developed GPRS communications between an Arduino microcontroller and a web server. In 2012, they joined Pilot Photonics as a Director of Photonics, R&D Manager, Senior Photonics Engineer, Photonics Research Engineer, and Optical Engineer Intern. As an R&D Manager, they reported directly to the CTO and managed projects from multiple funding agencies. As a Photonics Research Engineer, they had hands-on experience using lab instrumentation and high speed equipment.

Desi Gutierrez has a comprehensive educational background. From 2013 to 2017, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Dublin City University. From 2011 to 2012, they earned a B. Eng. in Information Technology (First Class Honors) from Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences. Desi also obtained a B. Eng & M. Eng in Telecommunication Engineering from Universidad de Málaga from 2007 to 2015. In 2005 to 2009, they earned a C1 Level (CEFR) in English from Official School of Languages (EOI). Additionally, Desi has obtained several certifications, including the JePPIX Deep-Dive PIC Design Course (2020), Career Edge 4x: Analytical Problem Solving and Design Thinking, through edX (2016), Managing Your Time (2015), Writing Proposals (2015), Modeling of Optical Transmission Systems using VPItransmission Maker Optical Systems (Basic and Advanced Course) (2015), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification (2012), and C1 Level (CEFR) in English (2009).
