James Belmont

James Belmont has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. James currently serves as the Managing Director & Chief Legal Officer EMEA at PineBridge Investments since June 2020. Previously, they held the position of Acting Co-Head of Legal at Alcentra from January 2014 to May 2020. Prior to that, they worked as MD & Managing Counsel at BNY Mellon from January 2010 to May 2020. James also had a six-month secondment at Insight Investment from April 2010 to September 2010. Additionally, James worked as a contractor at BlackRock in 2009. Earlier in their career, they held positions at Gide Loyrette Nouel, Jones Day, Mayer Brown, and PwC Legal.

James Belmont holds a Maîtrise in French law from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, which they obtained between 1996 and 1998. After that, they completed the Legal Practice Course at The University of Law from 1998 to 1999, focusing on City electives. Prior to these degrees, James obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in English law from King's College London, which they pursued from 1994 to 1996. In 2002, they received the certification of Solicitor from the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
