Karen Sloneker is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in both performance and teaching. As an adjunct trumpet instructor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania since 2012, Karen cultivates the next generation of musicians. In addition, Karen owns and directs Music Together First Notes, which offers research-based music and movement classes for families with children aged birth to seven. With a long-standing position as a second trumpet player for both the Pittsburgh Opera and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre since 1984, Karen has established a significant presence in the performance community. Previous teaching roles include adjunct instructor positions at Rogers School for the Arts and Seton Hill University. Karen holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Trumpet Performance from Carnegie Mellon University, earned from 1975 to 1979.
