Laura Balaban

Laura Balaban is an experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching and program coordination. Currently serving as a Volunteer ELL/GED prep teacher/tutor at Plainfield Area Public Library since April 2019, Laura has been responsible for teaching ESL classes, curriculum development, and participant assessment. Laura also temporarily held the position of ELL Coordinator, assisting students and supporting volunteer tutors. Prior experience includes a long tenure as an Orchestra Director and Suzuki Strings Teacher at District 108 from August 1999 to July 2018, as well as serving as an Elementary School Teacher at Glad Tidings School. Laura's education includes degrees from Carthage College, Rockford College, Eureka College, ICC, and VanderCook College of Music.
