Michael Lanham has a diverse work experience that spans various roles in cybersecurity and academia. Michael has served as a Director of Security and Compliance at Planet Technologies, a virtual Chief Information Security Officer at Black Talon Security, and has held multiple positions at the United States Military Academy at West Point, including Chief Information Security Officer, Associate Professor of Computer Science, Director of the Cyber Research Center, and Assistant Professor of Computer Science. Additionally, they have worked with the US Army Cyber Command and the US Army Central Command in cybersecurity roles. Lanham also pursued a PhD in Computation, Organization, & Society at CMU's Center for Computational Analysis of Social and Organizational Systems while serving as a PhD candidate at the U.S. Army Student Detachment. Throughout their career, Lanham has demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity, education, and research.
Michael Lanham completed their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University. Michael then pursued a Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Florida. Later, they obtained a Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance from Purdue University. Subsequently, they attended Carnegie Mellon University, where they earned a Master of Science in Computation, Organizations, Society and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computation, Organizations, and Society. Additionally, Michael Lanham obtained various certifications in cybersecurity, such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and Certified Network Defense Architect (CNDA).
