John Watson

John Watson has been working in the tech industry since 2005. John started as a Jr. Web Developer at UC Merced, where they administered Linux, Windows, and Solaris development machines, as well as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, and Postgres SQL database servers. In 2007, they worked as a PHP Programmer for the Society for Research Synthesis Methodology, where they created a PHP application to allow members to pay their membership dues through PayPal and developed a PHP application to allow administrators create conferences and members to register for conferences and pay fees through PayPal. In 2010, they worked as a Data Systems Architect at Mahalo, where they administered a MySQL 5.5 cluster that used an active-passive master replication scheme across multiple datacenters. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as an Operations Engineer at Disqus. Since 2014, they have been working as a Site Reliability Engineer at Dropbox, and since 2019 they have been working as a Site Reliability Engineer at PlanetScale.

John Watson attended the University of California, Merced from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science.
