Rick Branson

Rick Branson currently serves as Vice President of Engineering for the Systems Group at PlanetScale since November 2020, following a tenure as Director of Software Engineering. Prior to PlanetScale, Rick held various engineering management roles at Segment from June 2016 to November 2020, where notable contributions included supporting the Personas product team and leading the development of robust infrastructure teams. Rick's experience extends to Instagram, where responsibilities included engineering management and backend service design during a significant growth period. Earlier career highlights include a Solutions Architect role at DataStax, software development at Coroutine and Mosaik Solutions, and a Technical Analyst position at FedEx, where Rick developed critical software distribution tools.
