Lance Portman is the current President at Plant Tape. Lance has also previously worked as the Director of Technology, Subsea Production Alliance at Baker Hughes from January 2011 to September 2017. At Baker Hughes, Lance produced a revolutionary new subsea boosting system and delivered and tested a full-scale prototype within a 2 ½ year time scale. Lance also overturned the existing "wisdom" on the capabilities of electrical submersible pumps (ESP's). Prior to Baker Hughes, Lance was the Manager of Mechanical Development at Nowsco Well Service Ltd. from March 1992 to September 1996 where they established a comprehensive testing lab capable of simulating specific well conditions. Lance also delivered multiple successful new services to the industry, including straddle packer, jetting and jet-pump systems. Lance has also been the Vice President of Marketing at Cormorant Engineering from October 2017 to December 2017. Most recently, they were a Technical Advisor for Coiled Tubing Subsea Intervention Module (SIM) at BJ Services Company from April 2005 to September 2005.
Lance Portman received their first bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Cambridge. Lance then went on to earn their second bachelor's degree in engineering from St. John's College, Cambridge University. Finally, they earned their master's degree in engineering from St. John's College, Cambridge University.
