Wayne Popham has extensive experience in financial management and consulting roles. Wayne started their career in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Lieutenant and later as a Navy Liaison Officer. After leaving the Navy, they joined MCI, Inc. as a Capital Budget Manager, where they developed and implemented a standard process for evaluating capital investments.
Wayne then worked as the CFO and Director of Finance for Transworld Communications, a satellite telecommunications firm. In this role, they refined the company's business plan and led efforts to sell the company, resulting in its acquisition by QUALCOMM.
Popham also served as the CFO/Controller for Orblynx, Inc., a satellite-based internet caching technology company. Wayne developed a detailed business plan and established financial operations to help raise funding for the company.
Later, they worked at H2Gen, a venture-backed alternative energy start-up, as the CFO and Director of Finance. Wayne led a market research project to identify and quantify the industrial hydrogen market, which informed the company's business strategy and secured VC investment.
Popham also has experience as a partner at Southern Cross Ventures Inc., where they worked as a CFO consultant for various organizations and not-for-profit entities. Wayne'sresponsibilities included re-engineering accounting systems and managing audit cycles.
Most recently, Popham was the CFO of the Plastics Industry Association. Overall, Wayne Popham has a diverse background in financial management, consulting, and strategic planning across various industries.
Wayne Popham pursued their undergraduate education at The Citadel from 1974 to 1978, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in History. Wayne later attended the University of Virginia Darden School of Business from 1987 to 1989, completing their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a focus in General Management.
