Joseph South

Joseph South is a seasoned educational leader and innovator, currently serving as the Chief Innovation Officer at ISTE since May 2017, where responsibilities include leading the Innovation Team for the merged organization of ISTE and ASCD to develop impactful educational products and partnerships. Previously held positions at ISTE include Chief Learning Officer, overseeing teams responsible for the ISTE Standards, professional learning services, publications, and international outreach. Joseph has extensive experience in educational technology, having served as the Director and Deputy Director at the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Technology, where initiatives such as the ConnectED Initiative and Future Ready Schools were realized. Additional roles include Senior Director at K12, Inc. and founding Learning Accelerant LLC, a consultancy focused on enhancing learning experiences. Joseph holds a PhD and an M.S. in Instructional Psychology and Technology from Brigham Young University.
