Michael S. has a comprehensive work experience in the field of engineering. Michael currently works at Pleno Inc. as the Principal Engineer and Instrument Architect, leading the hardware development of a next-gen assay platform. Prior to this, they worked at Element Biosciences as the Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering and as a Senior Staff Engineer. Michael also has experience working at Berkeley Lights, Inc. as a Staff Design Engineer and Senior Design Engineer, where they played key roles in the development and launch of innovative platforms. Michael started their career at Illumina, where they held various engineering positions and gained expertise in fluidic architectures, thermal subsystems, subassembly testing, and instrument development.

Michael S. completed their high school education from 2001 to 2005 at Air Academy High School. Michael then went on to pursue a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering and Life Sciences at the Colorado School of Mines from 2005 to 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Michael obtained certifications in "Introduction to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing" from LinkedIn in March 2020 and "Industrial Design Foundations" from LinkedIn in January 2020.
