Valentin Agachi has a diverse work experience spanning over 19 years. Valentin began their career as a Web Developer at Webvertise in 2002, where they developed simple websites for small businesses and clients, as well as customized CMS software. Valentin worked as a Freelance Web Developer from 2005 to 2007 before founding their own company, CodingHeads, where they specialized in front-end development and optimization. During this time, they also created custom themes for WordPress-driven sites.
In 2012, Valentin became a Front-End Lead Developer at Duego, where they optimized legacy front-end code and established front-end coding guidelines. Valentin then moved on to Saltside Technologies in 2014 as a Front-End Lead Developer, where they built the responsive company website and developed new features for their applications.
Valentin joined Facebook in 2015 as a Front-End Engineer, where they developed features for public and internal products. Valentin also built new UI components used across multiple products, utilizing technologies such as React, Flux, Redux, Relay, GraphQL, ES6+, and Jest.
In 2017, Valentin founded VisWiz.io and assumed the role of Founder and Full Stack Engineer. Valentin then transitioned to Plex, Inc. in 2018, where they initially worked as a Front-End Engineer for the Plex.tv Web Client. In this role, they built functional sections for the React TV app, introduced Storybook in the UI development workflow, and migrated the unit test suite to Jest.
Valentin's current position at Plex, Inc. is Staff Back-End Engineer, which they have held since June 2021. In this role, they have built new features for the online sources product, developed a SSR product showcasing movies and TV shows, set up monitoring of the backend stack, and improved testing and CI workflows. Valentin has also upgraded the codebase using major patterns like ESM and TypeScript.
Throughout their career, Valentin has worked with a range of technologies including Node.js, TypeScript, Express, Jest, MongoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, React, Prometheus, Grafana, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
Valentin Agachi completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Bucharest from 2003 to 2007.
