Derek Estringel

Derek Estringel is an experienced professional in therapeutic recreation and resident engagement, currently serving as the Director of Resident Engagement at Poet's Walk A Spring Hills Memory Care Community since December 2021. With a strong background in various leadership roles, Derek has held positions such as Director of Therapeutic Recreation at Cedar Crest Hospital & RTC and Director of Activities at Heartland Health Care. Derek's career began as a Recreation Therapist at Austin State Hospital, with significant experience gained across multiple organizations, including Austin Lakes Hospital and Timberlawn Mental Health Systems. Derek earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreational Therapy from the University of North Texas between 1987 and 1995.
