Michael McDermott

Michael McDermott has a strong background in data science and machine learning. Michael started their career as a Research Associate at UBC, where they worked from 2008 to 2014. In 2015, they co-founded ML Infinity, a big data analytics consulting company. At ML Infinity, they served as a Data Scientist and helped clients utilize their data for business needs. In 2017, McDermott joined Unbounce as a Sr Data Scientist. Michael then moved on to Plentyoffish.com in 2015, where they worked as a Data Scientist until 2017. McDermott returned to Plenty of Fish in 2019 and held roles as Research & AI Lead, as well as Director of Data Science and Machine Learning. Currently, they are serving as the Director of ML/AI at Match Group, starting in 2023.

Michael McDermott earned their PhD in Physics from The University of British Columbia from 2008 to 2014.
