Dean A. Slawson

Dean A. Slawson has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Dean is currently the VP Advanced Technology at PointClickCare, where they lead AI/ML/NLP innovations and advanced technology strategy and development. Dean is responsible for building and leading PointClickCare's Advanced Technology team and is a member of the senior leadership team.

Prior to their current role, Dean was the Founder and CEO of VRAINIUM from 2018 to 2020. Before that, they served as a Co-Founder at a startup incubation company from 2016 to 2018.

Dean has also held various positions at Microsoft. Dean worked at Microsoft Asia R&D and Microsoft Research Asia from 2006 to 2012 as the General Manager, leading a team that developed major portions of the first version of Microsoft Office for the iPad. Dean was also the Director of Program Management at Microsoft Research from 2002 to 2006, responsible for the worldwide program management organization.

In addition, Dean worked at Microsoft Corp from 1995 to 2001 as the Product Unit Manager Learning Business Unit and Group Program Manager Office. Dean was responsible for starting up Microsoft's product entry into the K-12 education platform market.

Dean's early career includes roles at Unisys as a Development Dept. Manager from 1992 to 1995 and as a Learning Science and Technology Consultant at Dean Slawson Associates from 1986 to 1992.

Dean began their career at Wicat Systems Inc from 1983 to 1986, where they served as the Director of Software Development, responsible for developing and shipping innovative adaptive and multimedia assessment instruments and systems for psychometric assessments of learning and learning styles.

Throughout their career, Dean has demonstrated expertise in leading technology teams, developing strategic initiatives, and driving innovation in the healthcare and education sectors.

Dean A. Slawson pursued a Ph.D in Learning Theory, Education Psychology, and Research Methods at UCLA. Although the specific start and end years are not provided, they did not complete their dissertation. Prior to this, they also attended Brigham Young University, where they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Experimental Psychology.
