Morten Bay, Ph.D. has a diverse range of work experience. Currently, they serve as a Lecturer at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Fellow at the Center for the Digital Future at USC Annenberg.

In 2005, Morten Bay was a Writer and Freelance Journalist for Danish media outlets Politiken and Recordere. During this time, they authored two books on the network society and a third book on the social changes brought by future technologies.

From 2012 to 2018, Morten Bay was a Ph.D. Candidate and Teaching Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles. Morten also worked as a Ph.D. Researcher and conducted research in internet history and cybersecurity policies and ethics. Additionally, they taught a class on Internet and Society.

As the Founder and Editor, Digital/CTO at POV. International, Morten Bay played a vital role in the establishment and development of the company from 2016 to 2017. Morten also worked as an Associate Research Fellow at the RAND Corporation, studying ISIS' use of social media and later focusing on Russian disinformation influence strategies in preparation for the 2016 election.

Prior to that, Morten Bay served as an Online Strategy Consultant at Blue Ant Agency, providing consultancy and strategic media advice. Morten also consulted on new business models for print and traditional media. In their role as the Online Strategy Director at HAUS, they led strategic planning for clients and worked on online concept development and strategy for media and corporate brands.

From 2007 to 2008, Morten Bay was the Chief Web Strategist at Aller Press A/S, where they launched multiple websites based on the company's magazine brands. Morten also significantly increased website traffic. Additionally, they worked as a Strategic Policy Advisor for The New Alliance party, where they were involved in media and cultural policy committees.

Overall, Morten Bay's extensive work experience spans academia, research, writing, consulting, and strategic planning, with a focus on media, communication, and digital technologies.

Morten Bay, Ph.D., received their education from both UCLA and Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen. Morten obtained their Ph.D. in Information Science/Studies from UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies in August 2018. Prior to that, they completed their MA (Cand. mag) in Media Science and Philosophy from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen in March 2003.
