Head of Athletics Richard Corso has an extensive career in coaching and athletic leadership. Prior to coming to Poly in 2018, Corso was the Athletic Director at the Westmark School, and also served as an assistant water polo coach at Oaks Christian High School, whose team won the 2016 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Championship. Rich’s career as a respected water polo coach spans more than 40 years including assistant coaching the 1984 silver medal U.S. Olympic team, serving as head coach of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team and head coach of the Canadian national team, among others. On the collegiate level in men’s and women’s water polo, he’s coached at Stanford, Yale, UCLA, and the University of California, Berkeley. His teams have won NCAA, Pac 10, and team and individual championships. Rich also coached for 19 years at Harvard-Westlake School. His teams won 41 league championships and two CIF titles. He was a six-time CIF Coach of the Year and California Coach of the Year in 1992. Rich swam and played water polo at Southern Connecticut State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education. He earned a master’s degree in kinesiology from California State Northridge and a second master’s degree in sport and physical culture from Lomonosov Moscow State University.”
