Marleen Schoonen

Director Corporate Communication & Corporate Initiatives at Polyganics

Marleen Schoonen joined Polyganics at the beginning of 2018 and currently works as Director Corporate Communication and Corporate Initiatives. With a strong academic record in health sciences, Marleen draws on her medical and commercial expertise to manage multiple corporate projects and to implement opportunities for business improvement, growth and progression. Being responsible for corporate communications, she oversees the business and ensures internal and external communications is aligned with overall business plans and directions.

Prior to Polyganics, Marleen established her career as a business professional during her tenure at the global healthcare company Novo Nordisk, where she performed as a Medical Advisor from 2013. Her responsibilities included providing medical and scientific support to customers and key stakeholders, support for pricing applications and approval for new medicines and devices, and promotional material sign-off in compliance with country-specific regulatory requirements. She worked to align cross-functional business activities with relevant legislation, as well as provided strategic advice to the medical affairs and branding teams. Before Novo Nordisk she worked at UCB Pharma, a multinational biopharmaceutical company specialising in the research and development of medications for epilepsy, Parkinson’s and Crohn’s diseases.

Marleen holds a postgraduate doctoral degree (PhD) in Public Health from the Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam. She also holds a Master’s degrees in Public Health – which she acquired alongside her PhD project – and Clinical Health Psychology, obtained from the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (NIHES) and Tilburg University, respectively.
