Ricky Barillas has a diverse work experience. In 2013, they were an Assistant Course Leader of Program for the National Youth Leadership Training with the Atlanta Area Council Boy Scouts of America. Their role included collecting, distributing, and accounting for program materials, coaching and advising the Course Leader, and exemplifying the lessons of leadership. Ricky was also a Senior Course Leader for the National Youth Leadership Training with the same organization. Their role included personally picking and managing a staff of peers, delivering key presentations on leadership to the entire unit, and overseeing Team Guides and running the week long course. In the same year, Ricky was a Tutor and Content Creator for Deep Dive Academy. In 2014, they were an Intern for SA IT Services. From 2015 to 2016, Ricky was a Residential Technology Advisor for the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Teacher's Assistant for Data Structures and Algorithims and Intro to Media Computation for the College of Computing at Georgia Tech. In 2016, they were a Software Developer Intern for The Home Depot. From 2017 to 2018, they were a Software Engineer Intern and then a Backend Software Engineer for Pindrop. Currently, Ricky is the Vice President of Engineering and a Senior Software Engineer for Polygon.io.

Ricky Barillas attended Alpharetta High School from 2010 to 2014. Ricky then went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 2018.
