Sophie W. has a wealth of experience in marketing and communications. Sophie began their career in 2008 as a Collections and Public Programs Intern at The Dayton Art Institute. Sophie then served as an Editorial Intern at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. In 2009, they were an Assistant Editor at Princeton University Art Museum. From 2013-2018, Sophie worked at North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, where they served as an Interim Director of Communications, an Associate Director of Communications, and an Assistant Director of Communications. During this time, they were nominated for Duke’s 2022 Presidential Award. In 2018, Sophie became the Senior Director of Strategic Communications, Student Affairs at Duke University. Sophie was responsible for leading and implementing a comprehensive marketing/communications strategy and provided senior-level communication development and coordination. Sophie also managed student crisis response and emergency communications, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, they became the Director of Marketing and Recruiting at HERS. Additionally, Sophie has served as a Communications Consultant at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.
Sophie W. earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) in non-profit communications from Miami University in 2015. Sophie also holds two B.A. degrees from Miami University, one in English Literature and one in Art and Architectural Theirtory, which were both earned between 2005 and 2009.
