John Flavin has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. John is the Founder & CEO of Portal Innovations, LLC, a position they have held since March 2020. Prior to this, they served as the Chairman and Co-founder of Pyxis Oncology, an immuno-oncology company focused on developing novel cancer therapies, starting from May 2018. John is also the Executive Chairman of ClostraBio, Inc since March 2020.

John Flavin has also worked as an Entrepreneurial Advisor at Argonne National Laboratory since October 2014. John is the Managing Director of Flavin Ventures, LLC since May 2002. Additionally, they have contributed to the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as a Guest Lecturer in Entrepreneurial Finance/Commercializing Innovation since January 2006.

John Flavin has held multiple positions at the University of Chicago, including Senior Advisor from May 2018 to March 2020, Associate Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Innovation from July 2016 to May 2018, and Founding Executive Director from October 2013 to May 2018. In these roles, they supported innovation and entrepreneurship activities, facilitated partnerships, and managed entrepreneurial programs and funds.

Furthermore, John Flavin served as the Chief Financial Officer of Endotronix, Inc. from May 2018 to March 2020. Endotronix is focused on developing a comprehensive health management platform for heart failure patients.

Lastly, they co-founded and served as the Executive Director of MATTER/Chicago Innovation Mentors, a consortium focused on commercializing technology innovation and entrepreneurship from October 2011 to September 2013. John was also involved with Advanced Life Sciences as the President, CFO, Co-founder, and Board Director from June 2002 to May 2011.

John Flavin attended Benet Academy from 1983 to 1987. John then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance at Marquette University from 1987 to 1991. After completing their undergraduate studies, John went on to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance at Lewis University from 1991 to 1995.
