Phil Beard has over 30 years of broadcast television experience. Phil started their career in 1978 as a News/Sports Cameraman at KATU-TV, where they won Emmy and Peabody Awards for their work. In 1997, they founded Phil Beard Productions, where they worked as a Freelance Cameraman, Jib Operator, and Director for various sports and corporate events. Phil also directed sporting events such as football, track & field, hockey, and basketball for broadcast and internet feeds. In 2000, they joined Portland Trail Blazers @ the Rose Quarter as the Director, where they directed in-house scoreboard shows for Trail Blazer home games. Phil later joined Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club in 2008 as the Video Director. In 2008, they also became the Director at Comcast Sports Net NW, where they directed and TD weekly studio talk shows. Starting in 2012, they worked as a Core Cameraman for CBS Sports Network Mountain West College Football package, where they traveled and set up cameras for broadcasts.
Phil Beard attended Lane Community College from 1975 to 1976, studying Broadcasting. Prior to that, from 1974 to 1975, they attended the University of Oregon where they focused on Broadcasting and Speech. Phil also holds a certification from the Sports Production Safety Group (SPSG), the details of which are not provided.
