Nick Pelikan

Nick Pelikan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Nick is currently working at Posit PBC as a Senior Solution Engineer since June 2023. Prior to that, they were a Senior Principal - Data and Analytics at Slalom from October 2022 to April 2023.

From 2019 to 2022, Nick worked at Fulcrum Labs as the Head of Data Science (Consulting). Nick played a key role in establishing an internal data science function, hiring team members, and delivering projects. Nick also oversaw the transition from a monolithic data science stack to event-driven microservices.

In the same period, they co-founded Epitheca Consulting and held the role of Co-Founder and Principal. Nick enabled data excellence at companies in multiple sectors, collaborating with C-suite stakeholders to implement effective data utilization. Nick also built data teams from scratch and mentored them to deliver transformative results.

From 2020 to 2022, Nick was the Senior Director of Data Science at YouGov. Nick built a high-performing data science and engineering function, recruited and trained a team, and acted as both a product and tech lead.

Prior to that, Nick worked at YouGov as the Director of Data Science, where they developed and deployed innovative APIs and models to improve data accuracy, reduce costs, and enhance user experience. Nick also worked as a Senior Data Scientist and Data Scientist at YouGov, developing machine learning models and creating data infrastructure.

Before their time at YouGov, Nick held positions as a Project Analyst at YouGov, a Ski Patroller at Crystal Mountain Ski Area, and a Wildland Firefighter at the Bureau of Land Management. Nick also worked as an EPSCoR Researcher and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Idaho State University.

Nick Pelikan has a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Political Science and Government from Idaho State University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In terms of additional certifications, Nick Pelikan has a Faller 3 certification from NWCG, obtained in May 2015. Nick also holds a Firefighter Type II certification from NWCG, obtained in May 2015.
