Dr. Shihab Kuran

Dr. Shihab Kuran has an extensive work experience in the energy industry. From 2016 to 2021, they were the Chief Executive Officer of Power Edison, a company offering innovative renewable energy, stationary and mobile energy storage solutions. In 2021, they became Executive Chairman of EV Edison, a Power Edison sister company that develops and provides high-power electric vehicle charging solutions. In 2022, they were appointed as an Independent Director of Laredo Petroleum, Inc., an independent energy company with headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Also in 2021, they became an Independent Director of NN, Inc., a leading diversified industrial manufacturer of high precision metal and plastic components and assemblies. In addition, Dr. Kuran has held the Chairman position at Sanabelle since 2001, Board Member positions at EnerKnol since 2018 and New York Energy Week since 2019, and the Founder position at Sanabelle Water since 2001. From 2014 to 2018, they were the President of Strategic Development at NRG Energy and from 2013 to 2014, they were the President of Advanced Solutions at SunEdison.

Dr. Shihab Kuran has a diverse educational background. In 2006, they completed the Executive Education program at Harvard Business School, earning a TGMP. From 1992 to 2000, they attended The City University of New York, where they earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Prior to that, they attended the University of Jordan from 1987 to 1992, where they earned a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications in 2022: DDN 502 Systemic Cyber Risk Governance For U.S. Public Company Corporate Directors from the Digital Directors Network, and the NACD Directorship Certification\u00ae from the National Association of Corporate Directors.
